Trying out the Douglas Park Miniature Golf was something I have wanted to do the past several trips I have been in Chicago, but the timing just never worked out. When I was finalizing our Route 66 route, I discovered Route 66 goes through Douglas Park, so I made it a priority to try to get a round of mini golf in here the day we arrived in Chicago.
We arrived to discover it closed, but there was a number to call and the person was able to come over to let us play. Turns out this time of year, it is mostly only open by appointment. While we waited for him to come open up, we enjoyed a walk around the park and its lake.
We really enjoyed this course. I liked that each course was themed to a different bird and there was a sign with some info about that bird. The course was a little worn in some parts, but they have been open for about four years, I think, and the worker said they plan to refresh the greens before next summer. It was also a surprisingly challenging course, but for once I beat Dad!
