Ever since I got a Route 66 book and we visited Pops on our road trip when we moved from Arizona to Alabama in 2013, we have talked about one day doing Route 66. With Dad retiring in 2024, doing Route 66 was among our top priorities. We did it a little the week after he retired when we drove between Chicago and Tucson and when I realized 2026 was the 100th anniversary of Route 66, we decided that we would really do it in 2026. In 2025, we went to the Route 66 Road Fest in Tulsa and did some of Route 66 between Tulsa and Pops as we started planning for 2026.
