Ranger Dan: 108.2 Fort Sumter and Fort Moultrie National Historical Park

Date of Visit: March 7, 2026

Mom, Dad, and I visited Fort Moultrie as a quick day trip to get the America 250 stamp for Fort Sumter and Fort Moultrie NHP as well as the nearby Charles Pinckney NHS. Charles Pinckney NHS is closed this time of year, but we have been to before so felt okay getting the 250 stamp without visiting it. However, we might still visit later this year if we get a chance since as a home of a signer of the Declaration of Independence it is very relevant to America 250.

Originally, we just planned to get the stamps and walk around the fort to get some Ranger Dan photos and for me to do a sketch in my sketchbook I am collection my stamps in for America 250 this year. However, we ended up also watching the movie because it is new since Dad and I visited last year as a field trip with Nora. Previously the movie was about the fort's history from 1776 through the 1940s. For the 250, the new movie focuses just on the Battle of Sullivan's Island, which was the Revolutionary War battle that occurred on June 28, 1776 while the original fort was still being constructed.
